Quote from his website (David Cook yachts)
"We inspect all vessels offered for sale wherever possible; take quality photographs to present the boat in the best way on the web and in specification details. We also encourage owners to valet their boats in the sales area regularly to ensure they are presented in the best possible way. "
BUT
this boat appears not to be on his site !

The advertisers message.

Complete with road trailer, stored ashore and covered, all good news?
Would you rather buy one after it had been sitting for three years rotting in a mud berth?

No.
Like I said. I'd rather buy one for a few quid more that is in commission and has been cherished.
This is not that boat.

Lads! I was more commenting about the poor presentation than the actual yacht. If the owner was happy for it to be presented that way then he is doing himself no favours. If the Broker couldn't be bothered then it is time to find another Broker.

I just wonder if the person who asked the broker to sell it is a solicitor trying to sort out an estate after the owner passed away hence no real interest so long as it is sold.

For christs sake it will sell for £2.5 to £3K broker will make £200 what does he have to do go out and polish it! He's allready put it on a web site. what would you do for a couple of hundred quid? It's probably there on the basis of if it sells it sells someone MIGHT want to buy it.

i`d polish it for £200:D

Have I missed something

Its a fibreglass boat so probably ok

Engine is knackered, it has a trailer

You're not going to travel from south coast to view this yacht

You're not going to buy it without looking at it

Broker has to manage the visits for viewing and broker the sale also. So it isn't a full photo shoot.

Most adverts for boats at this value don't even include photos.

its open to offers

Have you guys nothing better to squabble about?

Your £2k boat Nathan?

The seller can now reply "Yes dear I am doing all I can to sell the boat" (all the while planning next years cruise on his own, with the engine he has been secretly rebuilding in the potting shed)

Quite spooky this. Came across this thread after I saw the folksong on the interweb and, despite thinking probably a basket case, I phoned the broker. Nice guy, posted the boat for a guy with ill health who he has known for years and is just helping him out. Boat is in a farmyard and as its an attempt to help someone out rather than a normal brokerage arrangement the boat isn't on his brokerage website as it doesn't fit his normal trade. Anyway up I'm going to have a look might be a wrongun but at least I may get some bricks out of it.

Just thought you'd be interested.

Good luck, She'll be a lovely boat with a bit of work - how much work tho remains to be seen. But buying or selling a boat can create a life long friendship, if approached in the right way by both parties. If you decide to go ahead, I hope you are able to take to current owner out for a sail or two one day.

In that case I apologise for my earlier posts criticising the broker. I should have waited for all the facts before commenting.

I hope you find the boat is what you want.

I have been to view a boat at David Cook's brokerage and unlike many other brokerages I found the boat to be extremely well presented and David was very helpful.

I would say that this is not the 'norm' for this guy and I would certainly recommend his brokerage.
