Just left the local swindlery aghast at the cost of a single lightbulb . £10.50 for a 25w bulb... Can buy a box of ten for a car for less than two quid !

Quick scan on fleabay and will have two compatible L.E.D's delivered this week for an additional £3.00

Makes me feel a bit better but where does the money go ?

Oh, I forgot, all us Yotties are multi millionaires !

Well, if you will refer to yourself as a 'GrumpyOldGit' and refer to 'jewels' in you personal page, just perhaps the Chandlery knows you? :D;)

Sorry to put the thread back on subject, when I wanted to replace some bulbs. I went to the swindalry figured I would wait a bit.

I discovered DHGate straight form china, they where so cheap I ordered plenty. Still have spares and some that I ordered wrong when I did not know which size/ colour so I bought both!

Ah but, as was pointed out on these forums a while back, those were obviously those very special leds that are only made espially for yotties' 'cos the regular cheapo ones apparrantly immediately burst into flames as soon as they are switched on.
:D

There is some justification for a higher price for a specialised 25 watt navigation light over a car brake light bulb with the same output. The filament in a nav light bulb is axial to the bayonet fitting whereas the filament in an automotive product is horizontal. This is to ensure that the light from a heeled yacht masthead light complies with the regulations, which it would not if an automotive one was used. The subject is a contentious one for international regulations because USA, where non-heeling motorboats are in the (vast) majority, see no reason for a specialised bulb, whereas UK is trying to ensure that we can comply. I understand that this argument has been going on for years, with no end in sight until LEDs take over completely.

Why do you have 10 lights on a car?
