The LDNPA have decided how to go about recruiting a new Park Officer to replace the Tiplady person.

By spending £65,000

eg: £3,000 will pay for designing the advert itself.

£1,000 will be spent on a dinner with members and their partners.

I hope it gives them the runs........

Goodness, I'm sure we could manage to produce an advert for £2500, it'll be tough going but I will give it a try! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wonder if the £19,000 consultants fees will go to the same consultants already paid £16,750.

Its all a bloody scandalous waste of tax payers money. Next you'll hear there will be a restriction in some other service as a result of lack of funds!

Candidates' expenses (two nights' accommodation and food) will cost the public purse £3,000.

**** ** I thought Salcombe and Dartmouth were bad!

they seem to be missing the most obvious costs - right now any candidate who has the acumen for the role will look for a golden hello and medium term contract that will dwarf these payments - anyone who has spent time on a golf club committee will realise that making progress on the key issues is unlikely to be straightforward!

I find it staggering that the sort of people who would be qualified and able to run the Park are not already known to headhunters.

The LDNPA have also voted to spend £30,000 from "Unallocated funds" on the bid for World Heritage Status (in partnership with other Authorities and bodies)

Meanwhile they are looking at a further £30,000 shortfall on their registration fees for lake users next year.

Monkeys, typewriter, Shakespeare, spring to mind.

ah but there is a lot to be said for doing it 'right' you know - history shows that groups pursue such ideals until the end.........I confidentially predict that the LDNPA will go bust in the 2007/2008 year - the people that want it's ideals simply won't be able to pay for them.

Yup.
And whoever gets the job would very swiftly and wisely be under pressure tofire the very people who get him or her in there /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's the whole point. The Board choose the candidate, which has shown to be the worst policy in the past. Too late to alter in this situation of course, but perhaps a more business-like approach in the future would get the best candidate.
