How much warranty do you get with a new boat?

The Peters thing got me thinking, how much do you actually get with a new boat? Is it like a car, three years or does each manufacturer differ?

Obviously the engine maker covers the engine, but what about the Hull and Deck - does the dealer warrant these (hence the concern with Peters) or do the manufacturers do it?

It was the manufacturer with my boat, but I guess it may vary. Further complicated, possibly, by the fact that under UK law I think it's the supplier of goods (i.e. broker) who has the primary duty to rectify defects?

I'm not an expert so this is probably all b*ll*cks. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PS (edit) Hull warranty on my boat was five years (Sea Ray), engine three years (Mercruiser).

Same for me Monterey describe it as "limited lifetime warranty" which covers the hull

Engine 2 years from Volvo, subject to having the "special" service

Other components/electronics/covers/microwave/hob/bog etc etc all by the individual manufactures in most cases 1 year occasionally 2!

FYI In Azimuts legal threat to us via their solicitors, they mention that under European legislation they cannot put pressure on their sales network. When you have a problem you can find out the hard way who is on your side
