how much to rent a glastron 249 for 1 year

Hi everyone I own a glastron 249 diesel currently for sale as well but a customer has asked how much to rent for 1 year .
Wow I said as the price could be extreme regarding how much they do rent for 1 week or 2 weeks but obviously a discount is involved what price can you put on renting a boat for 1 year that he may only use once a month. Any ideas folks thank you Colin

That's tricky. If something breaks....who's paying? You'd need some contract from an arrangement like that.

Is this in the UK or Greece?

To charter the thing legally (which is what you'd be doing) in the UK, the boat would need to be coded. I don't know what the rules are in Greece, but I hear they tend to be a lot stricter than here.

Of course you could just take the risk and do it anyway, nobody's likely to proactively check, but it makes it all the more important that he doesn't prang it. Insurance probably won't cover an illegal charter, and if it's a big enough crash the MCA/Greek authorities will take an interest too.

I think this is far too risky. Better he just buys it and then sells it at the end of the year. Even if he agrees to sell it back to you at a price pre agreed and subject to its return condition

Have it as a one way offer, in other words you will underwrite the boat at that price but he isn't obliged to sell to you. That means you don't have to worry too much about an absolute figure. If he thinks it's worth more he can sell on open market, you can be a bit cautious.

Take 15% of the value in rent and take a deposit equal to the full price. In the contract make the hirer responsible for a full survey and engine service at the end of the contract, deduct anything which needs doing and refund the balance. Put a limit on engine hours. Rent on the principal "You bend it, you buy it"

From a very quick scan I'm guessing the boat is crudely worth £20k. It would cost more to do the paperwork, survey etc than the £3k rental you propose and I'm not sure I'd want all the risk & hassle for £3k. If anything slips through the survey or fails just after you get the boat back you've done your £3k and then some.

Ultimately his friend needs to be grown up enough to buy the boat and take on ownership all be it with a safety net of a guaranteed buy back figure subject to whatever you want to throw in.
