We’ve done week long cruises in the NW of Scotland on that rode, ridden out a couple of gales and slept soundly (fortress anchor). For me sleeping soundly is the key metric for anchoring system design so is highly personal and as a result can be quite emotive on these forums. So whatever you are happy with is the only correct answer. I’m new to using boat length as a guide for chain length. For me, chain is there for abrasion resistance. If you want to be scientific about anchor rodes, it’s about managing snatch loading so needs a detailed understanding of your boat, how it moves and therefore how much load it puts on the rode. If the rode is springy enough, it can reduce the loads and make you sleep better…….. but not many of us really fully understand the loads or the engineering to do a proper calculation
