Had a query last week - but I´m sure I got it wrong - about the boat numbers.

For one boat we have,

The Manufacturers Hull number.
The Official Registration number
The Sail number
The MMSI number
The Radio Callsign (letters and numbers )
The EPIRB registered number

No wonder we put a b****y name on the hull for simplicity.

Any numbers I have forgotten that refer to the whole boat and not just a piece of its equipment ?

Telephone Numbers

"Any numbers I have forgotten that refer to the whole boat "

The following telephone numbers also apply:

The purchase price
The annual berthing charge
Every repair bill
The insurance premium (s'pose the Policy No refers to the whole boat)
Chandlery costs
etc etc etc

The builder usually allocates two numbers: the yard number or hull number which (usually) starts at 1 and continues consecutively for each subsequent hull and the H.I.N. ("Hull Identification Number"?) allocated (I think) by internationally agreed convention which incorporates the builder's name, country, year of build and the "yard number".

Thus, our H.I.N. is SE-NIMPO700J495 (SE=Sweden, NIM=Nimbus PO=dunno, 700=hull number, J=dunno,4=dunno (maybe April) 95=year of build)
