4 weeks ago I sent off for a license for my boat from the EA. I have had my boat on the Norfolk broads and also sail on the Orwell & Stour. The Norfolk broad’s authority always turned my license application round in 10 to 14 days though in a rush one year I went to Norwich and picked it up in 10 minutes. This is the first time I have licensed my boat with the EA though my tender is licensed with them. The form states “allow upto 14 days” so after 3 weeks I e-mailed them, a reply takes 10days I was informed!
This morning I received a very cheap envelope (very recycled paper) done up with cellotape with my address on it, no name, in the envelope was a key and what I recognised as a license holder but nothing else! My lock key? The front of the envelope has an EA stamp on it.
Is this typical of the EA? So far this has cost me £115 plus my BSS and I can still not use my boat on the river legally
