So which would you recommend - I was aiming for the Albany opposite Hampton Court Palace for lunch...

Also, would I need a BSS cert? Only doing a day trip. For now.

Go straight through Kingston and either head for the Albany or head for the Swan at Thames Ditton both of which do decent (ish) food.

As a visitor, you dont need a BSS certificate, you just complete a form at the lock of entry.

Sound like Petersham slip on the Surrey bank, only one tip which I am sure you know park the car a long way up the road.....and add 20 mins to get to Tedd lock and another 20 to get through the lock which is only running the barge at the moment. Then its 45 mins plus to HC. oh and wave as you go past.

Is the one behind the Island called the swan /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I think that one is the nicer pub and there is room for more boats .

yep thats the one the swan at Thames Ditton as you go past Thames Ditton Marina (lots of barges on left) round the bend then left of the island and boozer (swan) on the left.

Talking of Swans just had a very pleasant ride down stream to the Swan at Twickenham for a few pints of Cornish ale (why do all twick pubs sell cornish ale?) the sun has only just gone in. but the insects / bugs were out in force!
