I am currently looking for a boat and there is a beautiful 2016 Chris Craft right down the street from me, it has the V8-380 in it with 800 hours. They are asking 100k. Its tough for me to drop a 20% downpayment with and finance the other monies knowing you are getting a pretty well used boat. Although it was maintained well, and everything looks great, its still hard. Could someone please offer some insight on if this engine has a lot more life left and it is possibly worth buying this caliber of boat with that engine. I really appreciate any help here. The basic engine is robust, it is the bits that turn it into a boat engine that cause problems. Impossible to give advice on a boat and engine you can't see.
Sensible thing to do is to have a survey and engage an engine specialist to check it over for you. That is normal practice when buying a boat.

Not an expert on power craft, but I'd rather buy a boat that's been used and maintained than one that has been left in the marina for seven years.
