How long, vaguely, is a piece of string

Hi, does anyone have any idea of how long - very approximately - it might take a Freeman 32 MK 2 to cruise slowly & steadily from the North of Ireland across to the Clyde & on to Edinburgh & then down the east coast to the Thames? Thank you!

I estimated from Holy Loch (Clyde) to the Thames Estuary was 12 days averaging 8 knots, night stopping, assuming perfect weather. The Clyde - Edinburgh canal (can't recall the proper name) was closed because the bridges had a problem. Think it is still closed but I might be wrong. I did a rough costing for fuel, food, berthing, contingency for holing up for bad weather, travel costs for one another and it proved about the same cost of the lorry. I fancied the journey but the balance fell to the lorry.

PS. How come you knew the name of the boat was Sea Dog?

Unless you have a great deal of confidence in that boat plus you have considerable sea miles under your belt would not undertake that trip lightly.
Cost of fuel and marina stops would probably add up to more than putting it on a lorry, especially if you got a good return load deal .
From memory the Freeman 32 will only cruise 8-10 knots under favorable conditions, add 2- 3 knots of tide against you and its going to be a long journey. ?

Ok, thank you . Maybe just the first part of the journey over to Scotland perhaps & then a lorry. It won't be til next year by which time we'll know the boat & ourselves a bit better - she's got twin Thornycrofts 120hp - should be up to that shouldn't she?

More serious imput this time
oldgit is correct about the speed of the vessel
The Hull design limits the velocity but twin 120's will mean that with luck you will average 6 kts on the Trip
You will need the right weather, IE virtually flat calm
Yes the Dublin Scotland journey is viable but only under the right conditions, which do occur from time to time
Plan it properly and as You mention you have time to learn how the boat will handle etc
Be a right good achievment thats for sure
Whereabouts in Scotland do you hope to land by the way?

We were thinking of travelling from the north of Ireland across to maybe Portpatrick then up to the Clyde?

OK, great stuff
I was going to suggest Portpatrick
Love that little harbour
Now in the hands of a Consortium of some kind
Sheltered in most winds
You posted at first the Final destination would be/ could be the Thames
Why approach from the East coast may I ask?
