I have a 19 ft trailer sailor. I am planning to trail her to Sweden this summer for some bobbing around the Stockholm archipelago. What is the forum's opinion on the importance of getting an SSR pt3 reg?

A british ship (and that includes our little ones) must be registered to establish her nationality when sailed in foreign waters. This was the purpose of establishing the SSR as a cheap and simple registration, rather than the more complex Part 1 which was designed for commercial shipping. I'm not sure, but I believe that many countries will demand to see the registration and insurance papers even for a boat on a trailer. I suggest you visit the RYA site, where they offer up to date advice on sailing abroad.

Rob.

Essential. See the RYA Site as suggested.

There are no requirements for registration of Swedish boats of that size, so I would be surprised if registration was demanded by Swedish authorities.

Some information from customs in this link (though written I think with the assumption that foreign boats arrive by sea rather than by road):

Thanks for the link, BabaYaga.

I'm not expecting to spend much time in busy areas, so was not expecting to attract much attention from the authorities.

Chinita- that what I was thinking.
