My boat's handbook shows Displacement = 7200 LBS or 3272 KGS

How heavy is this in Tonnes ? Is it just 7200 / 2240 = 3.2 ?

Knowing this boating lark I'm expecting a plethora of variations !

Reason for asking is that the Yacht Club has a Cruiser Trolley for dragging the boat out of the water but "this facility is limited to boats of 4 tons or less". Wouldn't want to break it as I've only just joined /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

3272 KGS =3.272 tonnes as simple as that

7200 LBS =7200÷2240 =3.214 tons or 3 tons, 4cwt, 1qtr, 4lbs if you prefer

Just had my Sadler 32 lifted out. The manual gives a displacement of 4320kg, but the crane operator told me I clocked in at 5600kg fully fitted out for cruising - including full tanks, inflatable, Seagull outboard on pushpit, two anchors etc. Somewhat surprised, and lighter in pocket as pay by weight in operation

4 tonnes, or 4 tons, it doesnt really matter. Your boat is less than the limit, and the SWL of the trolley should be something like 4 or 5 times the rated limit.

short ton = 2000lbs
metric tonne = 2204 lbs
imp ton = 2240 lbs

pick your measure.

as others have commented, the actual weight is likely to be greater though its difficult to know how much since crane weights arent very accurate and do include things like the spreaders anyway.

If you are worried, just unload the boat and the obvious thing to do first is the water tank. 50 gallons = 500lbs = 230kgs
