Probably my favourite weekend of the year so far....

A romp up the Wallet in both directions, wind rarely below 20kts, bright sunshine almost all weekend, and on Sunday particularly, brilliant blue skies...

Boat speed rarely below 7kts on Saturday and we hit 10.8 kts at one point on a big surf, and did Bradwell to Shotley in 4 hrs on Sunday...

And to top it all, had a new 'larger than life' crew member on board who sailed Lasers for Greece in the Olympics between jobs as a Greek naval mine clearance diver and the Greek equivalent of the SBS... boy did he have some tails to tell!

Marvellous!

A very productive weekend for me at home - so it proves the existence of Ying and Yang.
Had a good ride out on my bike this morning over to Bradwell, blagged a cup of tea off Morgana before they set out back up the Wallet.
Confirm that new Morgana crew seems to be all round top bloke, but I haven't had the pleasure of a beer with him yet.

So, Saturday, new roof on the shed.
Sunday, ride out, tea, ride, breakfast in Burnham, back home, load the car, down the tip. Children offer Dad beer. Dad accepts. Thai Curry.

Bliss really.

No sailing this weekend.
The wife is away on hoiliday
Saturday - take my grandaughter out for the day to Nene Valley Railway and then babysitting the grandaughter and grandson in the evening to let my eldest daughter and the son-in-law go out for a meal.

Today - domestic duties.

Looking forward to next weekend.
Hope the forecast is wrong.

Based on the weather forecast I decided not sail yesterday but today's sail reminded me why I keep the boat in the water while the river moorings and the marina start to empty. Pretty much ideal strength of wind and glorious blue skies for the most part.

It was a tad gusty yesterday JB actually Broached :o.
saw 34 kts once .
still had a great sail if only out to Landguard ( Will :p ). & back.

Thurs. Deben to SYH . Fri. take I.C.C . luckily SWMBO . 'crewing' so I passed...back to Deben and leave Bongo at Mel's to be taken out and laid up.Looks like weather deteriorating ..?
Re. I.C.C. I did the theory in 1996, but didn't get around to the practical until now. I'm sure the whole thing has been 'bigged up', It certainly costs more...!

I just hope I can make enough money to pay for it all... :D

Well... Went out on Saturday, but found the forecast force 4 wind was more like a force 6.
Continually broaching until I dropped the main and ended up on just a heavily reefed genoa.
It was the weekend of the traditional Dutch barge racing around The Haringvleet which is always a good sight (Sorry no pics, my camera is still AWOL).
Getting back into the box was interesting single handed with the much stronger wind than normal.
Finished off the day removing the spray hood to get the rotted stitching replaced as its only being held together by good will at the moment.

Gorgeous!

We couldn't get to the boat till mid-morning Saturday, which meant the tide was too low to go out. When the water returned, we sailed down the Crouch against the tide at a decent 5kts and it was such fun we went out to Holiwell before turning back and running into the Roach - with the tide this time. Anchored in Yokesfleet overnight, which, as usual, was magical. Sunday morning was supposed to be quite calm, but the strong N breeze was still with us, so we had a spirited sail back - again overshooting our turning to Bridgemarsh because it was such fun, and scraping into the creek just before the water disappeared again.
It was one of those fun, stress-free sails, which set you up nicely for the next week at work!

Nothing boaty this weekend but did my first 10k run for Cancer research in Cambridge. Training has been out of the window for the last couple of months but managed 64 mins. GF did it in 47  but then she's a racing snake.

Bit gutted as havent been able to get to the boat since I've had her but next weekend devoted to boat jobs at Suttons.

Went down on Saturday with legendary female skipper and intentions to engine winterise but prepared for sailing just in case the weather was OK. After cup of coffee, sunny skies made it impossible to refuse a bit of a sail so rigged and went for a blast in the Orwell. Second Sailorman's comments about gusty winds

Saturday night bumped into another legendary female skipper who we managed to lure out for a sail on Beyond Reason on Sunday.

Full English breakfast, romp up to Wrabness and back, each of us having a go on the helm, sunny skies, lunch on the go, beer to wash it down, crumpets for tea, bloody marvellous!

Back into marina for oil and filter change, flush out of raw water system and addition of antifreeze ready for lift out next week.

I would say that the weekend exceeded all expectations.

Neil your crew sounds interesting, any chance I could lure him onto my boat?

Football season with 2 small ones who train on a saturday then have a match on a sunday, and taxiing over the weekend make sailing time difficult. However, I am off to the boat this evening for a tidy up, check over, get a few jobs done etc etc. Really looking forward to next weekend. Can we all please perform weather dances, and pray to the calm weather gods. It has been sooooo long since I had a good sail ........

Down to Foxes to pick up new (to me) spinny. Thanks Guapa. The to RHYC for lunch and planned boat visit. Unloaded everything onto the pontoon, went to blow up inflatable. Pump at home. :o

Let the kids play some more nd then drove home again.

Acted as 'rescue boat' for mates newly acquired 470 on Saturday.
Pretty gusty.
Nearly needed when they capsized ahead of the dredger working the channel upriver of the Orwell Bridge :o:eek::D
Yesterday took father-in-laws little dinghy for a sail and, due to lack of wind, took a couple of hours to get from Fox's the the Haven lock and back.:o
One day, I'll become a 'proper' sailor.
Still, time on the water.........
