How do you find out exactly who chose the leisure boats going on the QJ.

Would like to contact the body involved to ask as what critera was used in the selection and who decided that they should make that decision.
Was it The PLA perhaps or a Thames boat club.
All and any suggestions/comments most welcome ! :)

Contact the organisers.

However its not FOI'able so they don't have to tell you.

I don't think moaning about is going to get you included at this stage!

You could always buy the Dail Mail and get a free passage on the Yarmouth Belle if you really want to have a chance of going!

Definitely not the PLA, but thats not to say they didn't have some input. Contact them as they certainly know who did.

Let there be light ?

Will be enjoying the day form where the rejects have been quartered :) with the old camera to record the days events, should be some nice shots of the leisure fleet with all their pennants on display.

While still happy to engage in a prolonged and heartfelt moan, it might be interesting to discover exactly who- what - when and where the decision to include certain recreational boats and to exclude others was made and the critera that was used to select them .
Bring a little clarity into the matter perhaps as only one name on the selection sub group would have any useful knowledge of the tupperware fleet and its capabilities ?

Suspect there will have been something written down somewhere as tends to be the way with committees.
When all is revealed, feel sure that a suspicion that ye olde boyes network was the selection method proves to be totally and utterly unfounded.

If you have the time Fred I would advise getting down to Hammersmith/Chiswick the day before to see the tupperware navy assembling on their buoys in the morning before! Could be interesting!

And then there were ?

May well do that, hoping to meet up with the Milton Keynes Navy at St Kats over that weekend.

Narrowing it down a bit.......
From ATYC website .

All applicants have now been informed if they have been selected or not, it was very dissapointing to find our that the tuppleware navy were only offered 20 places, the others being allocated to VIP's. "ATYC did not have any influence in the allocation of those places but it was nice to see so many ATYC members being represented."

So thats the ATYC out of the frame then ? However bet the VIPs will all be on 30 Thames boats and it still leaves the fact that 100% of the other 20 are most probably Thames based boats as well ?

Can you not just follow the main show! Trailing behind at a respectable distance just behind the Raider commando ribs and the men in "Black"?

From all the available info, think that any attempt to do this will be actively "discouraged" and with very good reason .
The river will be closed at both ends and you will need to present a valid reason for your boat to be in the vicinity of the event and just wishing to" jog along behind" I doubt will be one of them :)

I know not if you mean this seriously or in jest ! Either way, I am looking forward to responses which show the forum at its best :D

I`m a "Raggie" so I jest! Honest I don`t want to get the Mobo blood pressure raised to explosive heights!

I went to the ATYC competition demo on Sunday, the chap later doing the talk on how to moor on the buoys in Hammersmith, and demonstrated on his own boat, also seemed a bit peeved not to be invited. If it helps, I believe he's one of the ATYC Vice Chairmen, a nice fellow but he's also gutted not to be going.

Was this at TWYC? How did it go in the wind and the rain?
