For Years I have polished my boat hull and super structure ( GRP) at the same time as the annual Anti-foul and washed the dirt off monthly during the season with washing up liquid. I now realise that my hard work polishing with Farecla in the spring and waxing is being "rinsed off " during the season. Does any body have any effective alternatives to the above. I guess non detergent soap would be a start but does it clean as well.

Hi Brendan - GRProClean are a national franchise, so you should be able to get someone reasonably local. They charged £350 for my boat which is 8.8M, or 28' 10" in real money. You should be able to find them on Google, and they do respond to web or email enquiries - which is excellent. Oh - and they treat it to stop stain recurrence.

I kid you not.... my 18 year old boat looks like brand new - seriously!

Thanks Dave, found the website, and the pictures look convincing, but always take such with a pinch of salt without personal recommendation. Looks like the boat may get a good clean up for the new season!

Obviously, being a franchise, this will be down to the diligence of the francisee, as much as the chemicals they use. The woman who did mine (they call her "Scottie", as she came from Glasgow originally) spent about two full man-days on my boat and worked around the engineer doing the repairs, cleaning up after him, I suspect!

Issue son with pressure washer, detergent etc and then polish and polishing machine, with the promise of pocket money afterwards*. Not brilliant but less cost than a pro and less effort than DIY:)

*if its not all gone over the bar by the time he finishes!

With ref to GRP PROCLEAN the local franchisee Michael bacon fully cleans and section polishes my boat once a month (he spends one full day a month cleaning it and polishs a section of the hull superstructure e.g on the polishing side he goes round and round in circles, the result is the boat is immaculate at all times however the monthly cost of this is £120.00 plus vat not cheap but imho well worth it in the sense that i dont have to start my all to short weekends with one and a half hours of digested fish removal aka courtesey of the hambles feathered luftwaffe.
