How do you check online which Part 1 Names are already taken?

Looking at putting a boat on Part 1 MCA. Need to check if name is still available. Is there a web page i can check it on?

Don't think so. I have a feeling that the only way to test the waters is to submit a possible name (or list of names) to the Registry of shipping and wait for them to tell you whether or not it/they are already taken. I.s.t.r. a forumite saying that he'd conducted the same exercise over the phone with a helpful lady at the Registry but I bet that's not approved official procedure....

We did it over the phone, too, and they were extremely helpful.
