How do I transfer ownership?

I want to sell my boat, and think I have found a buyer. She is registered on SSR, but that is not proof of ownership. Is there any official ownership paperwork that needs to be completed?

SSR Means nothing. My boats registered twice cept I've got the old number on the boat and the new certificate that I've never got round to changing the number to.
Just give the chap a receipt and say something legaly like
I hereby and wherefore. Whilst being of sound mind.
and without just impediment. And crap like that.

Or sold to Mr???? one XX boat in terrible crap condition. For
£ Loads of 000000000,s . Sold as seen. M Mouse Esq.
Main thing is.
Colect the cach !!

Any new person buying will need:

original paperwork (not copies) of:

manufacturers sale invoice with proof of VAT paid.

every bill of sale through each owner and if at any time the boat was purcahsed on a loan and used as security for the loan, proof dedt was cleared.

do not accept anything less.

My last boat was purchase a boat from a dealer in S********n, near Walton on Thames (no names) who sold me a boat and did not completed all this.

It turned out that after the boatyard fire he had not settled with the previous owner and we had a battle to prove I had paid him and title had past.

Do not trust the salesperson that everything is OK: get the paperwork. If you don't get the paperwork, walk away.
