Do any of you wonderful people know how I can remove my anchor light from the top of the mast without destroying the light? The screws connecting the light to the mast are inaccessible as the light is over them. The light doesn't seem to unscrew or pull out. Any suggestions? The yacht is a Compass built Herreshoff 28.

(Apologies for the blurry image, however, my proficiency at photography is on a par with my boat maintenance skills).

Better pics would help; clearly the screws holding it on are inaccessible, the guard may unscrew and release the glass but without more detail that's just a guess.

I had one of those, forty years ago. I’m pretty sure it came from Daveys. They were often used as all round masthead lights but they can also be used the other way up as cabin lights.

The cage is attached to a threaded ring; this will unscrew. You may need to use a good lot of penetrating oil. The glass is seated on and held down on a rubber gasket. Lift the glass out and you can get to the screws.
