A new kind of boat has arrived.

The 'Stealth barge'

Seen just upstream of Cookham, this rather sexy looking thing is finished in a very practical matt black (no polishing guys!!) and a few sinister nazi-esque symbols subtly painted in satin black, so barely noticeable, this looks like the White House's version of a barge.

So cool, I actually have a slight stirring in the trouser department...:p

There was another barge with a stern bar which was akin to a Las Vegas bar!! Holy Moly, the Barge guys are really pushing the boat out* :)

*yeah, cheap but inevitable...

Not quite sure about it. Making a statement but not quite sure what:confused: Moored behind us at Henley a few weeks back.
The owners certainly didn't match the boat - looked quite normal.:)

They aint right those narrow boaters i tells ya !
I had a tour of one in Twickenham one day and the owner had done a lovely refurb on her . I noticed he had an IMac and asked if he had internet connection . He said not yet as he had just got the computer back from the police .
He must have seen the look on my face and said "oh nothing like that , they took it because they thought i was a racist . they took my KKK cloak and hood aswell but i didnt get that back "
I left pretty bloody quick !
Another one was locking with me on the way to Windsor and during the lock chats we agreed to meet up for a beer , two single fellas and all that i thought it was piss up time . I got on board and he had the lord of the rings music playing full blast , took his hat off and swung his hair around like the timotay girl .
I was out of there like a shot !

I had a chat to them on Friday while we waited for an electrician to finish some work on the lock at Hambledon, they're a really nice couple, the boat was built somewhere near Warwick and it's on its maiden voyage, they came down the Grand Union to Brentford then all the way uo to Lechlade and now on their way back go the yard for some glitches to be sorted. It really does look special.

They previously owned a standard width narrowboat that was of a similar design. The old boat was actually finished in blackboard paint - and nobody with chalk noticed!

It worries me somewhat,
the boat is very inward looking; the front deck is recessed, similarly the stern. All you can see of the crew are their heads.

Gives the impression of "*** the rest of you, we don't want to know".

Looks hopeless to work, until you realise that it's all done with hydraulic drives, so that the captain can pin the boat to a lock wall while they sort out the ropes.

Still it's nice to have innovation ??

THe boat was built by Kate Boats at Warwick - a well established firm, not afdraid to do something different.

Should feel right at home in the "Lounge " then........................if they are not on it already. !
