How complicated (and expensive) is it to change a starter motor on a VP 2002?

Can't speak for a 2002, but I have had the starter off from my 2003 a couple of times. Obviously it depends on access. But not too difficult, need some pretty big Allen (sp?) keys, and you might need some extra leverage on them. I can reach the electrical connections from the front.

Also based on our 2003, we had to reduce the length of the short leg of the Allen key to get it to fit.
Good luck

Oh dear. I would buy a pack of plasters for the knuckles that are gonna get trashed, and a cigar to smoke in contemplative silence as you take time out to wonder why the hell you ever decided to own a boat.

Good luck - i dread doing my one as the access is pitiful.

I've changed the starter on one of my 2002's. Mine are attached to saildrives so space is not a problem, I had to cut down the short end of an allen key to fit one of the socket screws but after that it was a 20 min job.

Thanks everybody.
