My wife bought me a book called "Stress-free Sailing" by Duncan Wells . It has QR codes linking to videos of the manouvres described which have to be scanned in some way.

I've no experience of QR code scanning and can't find any built-in app to do it. Can anyone tell me how to do it, please?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet

Visit the Google Play Store and search for "QR Code Reader". If the tablet does not have a sim card, tether it to your phone or connect it to the home wifi. The app works through the camera.

Googling the (exact) thread title brings up a help page from Samsung which suggests there should already be an app to do this on your tablet called "optical reader"?

Ah, that's interesting. Last year my Galaxy tablet started going slowly and I deleted all sorts of apps that I didn't use (and didn't even know what they did), perhaps that was one of them. How can I get it back?

On an iOS you would open the app store, search for it, and just re-download it from the "cloud". I suspect you will have something similar (but I don't know anything about Samsung tablets).
