I have a 2003 Beneteau which I suspect has never had her water tanks cleaned. They now produce brownish water not fit for very much and probably not fit for human consumption. I have tried storage with bleach, application of water purifier and any other chemical alternative but I think the base problem remains that the tanks themselves have too much accumulated gunge. The challenge is that there is no proper access. The inspection holes are the same size as the fillers and would not accomodate a baby's hand, let alone mine. Short of building in inspection hatches (third party cost and personal competence prohibitive), is there another method of cleaning a water tank? Steam cleaning? We are in the Eastern Caribbean and if anyone knows some crew who do this, please let us have details. I assume this happens all the time.....
