Have just done a quick search and found nought, so does anyone have a good method for cleaning a green mouldlike discolouration from the standard chamois leather type wheel covering please? We tried Mrs Beaton's recipe for cleaning ladies chamois gloves on the weelend, using soap and ammonia, but it had little effect!

Mr Beaton suggests a toothbrush and some Biological washing powder. Mr Beaton moves with the times.....

And once you've done it, try keeping it fed with lanolin. It will smell like a sheep for a day or two, but our 7 year old leather wheel cover is in fine fettle after long exposure to the Med and Caribbean sun. Mould not a problem there of course, but by keeping the water out I think it will prevent a recurrence.
