Does anyone have any information about a hovercraft that I have seen the last couple of days going past Woodbridge?

It looks as if it might be some sort of rescue craft, being bright orange, but no insignia.

They appear to think that speed limits do not apply to them as they were travelling at about 15 knots I would think. No wash though, but quite noisy.

Maybe a retired RNLI one -you could trying asking the RNLI hq in Poole?

RNLI hovercraft is a bit bigger.
Plus I don't think they've retired any yet.

We have a clutch of these little beasties on the Medway, possibly homebuilds.
Can hear them coming from miles way but virtually no wash.
Group of them on the "beach" in Queenborough Harbour last year on a very chilly New Years Day, the only things that were moving on the river that day.
Live and let live.

They may not, depends how the bylaws are written. If its speed through the water then as they are above the water they would likely not apply, if its over the ground then they probably would.

Another first, yesterday afternoon a Jetski made a brief appearance, came upriver to just short of the Tide Mill then turned and went back, going at a reasonable speed, I wonder where it would have launched?

Our "boat" club was formed in 1905,shortly afterwards there was a bit of a schism and the motorboaters watched the yachties sail away down stream to "Upnor" presumably on a vain search for " some peace and quiet" but more likely to escape those who regarded the infernal combustion engine as progress. ?
We do still maintain nearly cordial relations even though they regard us as "trade" and we regard them as being a little to fond of Blazers and Gold Braid and pointlessly sailing round in circles not going anywhere much and finding a hooter being blasted from the shore every so often as meaning something. ?
