Has anybody ever tried one of these on there boat.
I am lifting all floors and hatches to re-plumb, removing grey water tank, fresh water tank etc.
While all this is out I thought it would be a good idea to repaint the inner hull and bilge, at the moment grey, change to white.
Would these household cleaners do a good job of cleaning the hull & bilge prior to painting.
 
Buy one for SWMBO, she will find it very useful indeed, then you can borrow it! In due course you will let us know how useful it was on the boat.
 
I'd hire a hot wash (hot water pressure washing upto 130 degrees) We have them for valeting as do most of the other valeting companies - not worth buying for individual use at a cost of well over 1k. Definitely worth considering hiring from HSS

Fantastic for defrosting the freezer!
 
I bought a professional one for around £500 several years ago for the catering side of my business and was very disappointed. Everyone oohed and aaahed and said how clean everything must be but actually, when you looked at the results, they were no cleaner than manual cleaning. Smashing for windows (literally if they are very cold when you point the steam at them) defrosting fridges (but mine were all frost-free) and impressing people about how professional you are. The council's inspector thought they were marvellous, but why?

You can put your hand in the steam jet....a few inches away the expansion of the steam has cooled it to hand-hot!

Definitely try before you buy or yours will end up where ours was, right at the back of the broom cupboard gathering dust.

Probably the chap (whose name I can't see as I write this) who has a professional one for valeting has a different kind of kit - make sure you try one like his, not like mine!
 
I second what Lemain says.

I have one and spent an hour cleaning the shower yesterday. Unlike the tempting Tel-Sell ads, mould does not leap away from in front of the 'powerful' jet of steam! Having said that, it does work better than most chemical solutions.

One consideration when using it in a boat, introducing steam very rapidly makes it wet/humid inside. Perhaps an undesirable side effect at this time of year?

[/ QUOTE ]For the showers (mixture of tiles and Conti board) I use Cillit Bang and a stiff nylon scrubbing brush - looks like a nail brush in shape but the size of a scrubbing brush. The key thing seems to be the nylon bristles. Mine is Australian, don't know if you can get them in the EU.

My showers come up like a new boat's and I put that down to a) good scrubbing and b) Cillit Bang

And I third it. Bought one and took it back the same day - told them it didn't do what it said on the tin -it had a very impressive photo on the side of the box, and that was the most impressive thing about it!
