Seeking advice regarding hours run on used outboards of the 90-115 hp range 4 stroke.
Due to a little addition to the family we will most likely be selling the flappy raggy thing and get a 6.4m ish day boat (cuddy) with 90-115 outboard or there abouts. ( just for a few years then move back to sail hopefully)
Obviously I would get any engine cheked by a dealer first, but looking at typical hours run to avoid.
I know it depends on maintenance and servicing too, but just looking for a guide as I guess not many would want an OB with a couple of thousand hours, but a 27hp Yanmar diesel in my boat is happily chugging away after nearly 4,000 hrs. Completely different styles of use too.

So an help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

I wouldn't worry about hrs too much. One thats used often with 500hrs will/should be better than one with 100hrs and just used a few times each summer.
Bye the way do you realise how much they cost to run!!

Thanks Single ;)

Unfortunately yes, however as my better half was also half of the crew on the raggy, due to our new addition to the family we need something a bit more practical, can use it for day trips ( island hopping over here) with family or fishing trips with the lads.
