How many hours between oil changes for an old volvo md5b?

And how many hours for other important engine work?

The reason for asking is i have got one of those neat little bolt on hour / tachos from Tiny Tach. In the past i used to do it when i felt like it, but i now have alarms to set!!!! :)

Bleep bleep.

You will find your hours are likely to be very low in comparison with the recommended oil change interval - if indeed there is one. It depends very much on usage pattern and in a yacht auxilliary the big problem is lack of use, not use. Therefore changing oil every year is a good idea - even though you will probably do less than 100 hours. Only other regular time based maintenance items are water pump impeller, belts and fuel filters, all again annual check items.

Yep, I do an oil and filter change every year before layup - so the engine sits over winter with relatively clean oil.

Change primary fuel filter at the same time (actually I switch to the spare and replace the old in-use with a new spare). Inspect the engine fuel filter, but it's usually spotless and I leave it in.
