Going to Excel and thought to make a two day trip and go to the maritime Museum at Greenwich the next day which means staying overnight. Anyone know of a reasonable hotel at Greenwich where I can also park the car?

Have not bought my show tickets yet what the cheapest place to get 2 pensioner tickets.

Skinflint. My boat has all my money but I dont let the wife know.!!

you could try the ibis in greenwich belive there is a travelodge or premier there as well or the holiday inn near the o2/dome or google for more , cheapest tickets belive daily mail 2 for the price of 1 via web site.
hope this helps

I wouldn't recommend the National Maritime Museum. It has been seriously dumbed down. Most of the exhibits have gone leaving a vast space for kids to run about in. A few bit and pieces on liners and that's it. Very sad. The Greenwich Observatory is worth the trudge up the hill to see Harrison's chronometers. Of course the Queen's House is a must for architectural buffs.

One of London's best museums for informed forumites is the Imperial War Museum. I think it appropriate that it is housed in the original lunatic assylum - Bedlam Hospital.

Sorry about the fred drift. Dunno about hotels in London Wastelands.

I had a nightmare finding hotels at the last minute - most of the travelodge/premier inn etc are fully booked or only have suites left. I have got a contact for nice apartments in Canary Wharf - a little expensive - pm me if you want the details

I agree with Michael abt the Maritime Museum... I went to school down the road in the 60s and it breaks my heart to see the stupidity it's been reduced to. However, they can't dumb down the library. Take some photo/address id and when you've whizzed round the NMM use their library. It's FANTASTIC and open to all at the presentation of some id.

The exhibitors have already snaffled all the handy local rooms anyway....

Can I suggest Chatham Maritime Museum?

Stay at the Royal Victoria & Bull In Rochester.
