I am making some alterations to the domestic hot water tank pipework, flow and return from the engine cooling. Need some advice about flexible pipework (3/4", 16mm or 19mm) and fittings, please. The new US manufactured tank has 3/4" threaded females for hot/cold connections and 5/8" diam spigots for engine flow/returns.
Can I use materials readily available (from PlumbCenter for example) or is something more specialised necessary? [I'm in the UK at the moment, back in France soon]

For the domestic side you can use polypipe type plastic plumbing. It may be worth using flexible connections to the cylinder, as sold by screwfix etc as flexible hose tap adaptors.
For the engine side, the plumbing has to cope with hot antifreeze and pressure, but polypipe/hep2o etc seem to be fine. The connections to the engine will need to be very flexible, car heater hose may be best.

I used car heater hose for the calorifier also.Dont forget to drop the pipes as low as poss. so that you have a "U" bend to stop thermal syphoning losing your hot water over night.I used push on fittings also with no probs. I beleive they were "Hep 2 O" make, very well made.
