Hot toilet!

Morning all,

Spent the night onboard for the first time in a while to check she was ok. Snapped bow line but hey! (eek).

Anyway, awoke this morning to the sound of running water. Traced it to water running into the holding tank and the rear cabin bog seems to be filling on its own and dumping water steadily into the holding tank. Steady trickle.

Also, the loo - jabsco, not so quiet flush, is red hot. The front of the toilet is so hot, I can only just touch it.

Apart from the fact it's knackered, any ideas?

Thanks

Mat

no idea,

but I'd definitely switch off the power to the el/toilets for starters and close the respective seacock before it fills up the black water tank!
A short somewhere, pushbutton/switch to operate the toilet maybe?

Thanks V. Done that but the thing I don't get is how it is getting water. Tank below the level of the bog as is black tank.so I thought syphon but having opened the top of the tank, and run the pump for a few seconds, it's still doing it.

Water pump also off so a bit perplexed now..

It could be the solonoid valve letting by if its connected to fresh water system, can you hear pump cutting in?
Could also explain why hot if hot water getting in.

Pump is not running but water was so hot last night, it scolded me. Would explain hot bog. I was thinki g electrical but wondering now if hot tank is look for the nearest point of escape.

Would suspect hot water stat faulty, causing excessive expansion ,could be the cold supply to the wc is acting as the pressure relief and backing up rather than the P R V on the cylinder opening ,

Sorry about the typos.. On my fone.

Sounds like the case re prv on bog vs tank. Stat on the tank is only a couple of months old. Will check it out.

Will the hot water have perirished any seals?

Thanks for the help to date..

Sounds like the builders have fitted the wrong setting valve which isn't allowing the expansion to blow the valve off, it's found the weakest point which is the toilet valve, it's passing though there instead of a tap, I'd be very carefull as it could split a water pipe inside the boat , it will more than likely blow one of the fitting off.

Perhaps the hot water cylinder thermostat is stuck, water boils, and weakest link is your toilet valves, so it is escaping there? should be a pressure relief valve, but perhaps stuck?

If there's not a non return valve fitted on cold inlet to calorifier then hot water could be pushed back through the inlet into the cold side and if there's not enough pressure to lift relief valve then toilet valve could have given way first, this will take the easiest way out.

Matm I agree the diagnoses above. Sorry if telling you how to suck eggs but you need to turn off the 230v to the immersion heater ASAP.

Thanks all.

Problem now getting more interesting. Water pump off and immersion off. Toilet is now filling and dumping to the holding tanks with a very gentle flow. Enough however to empty the water tank last night.

Is this simply seal problem on the toilet? Hot water could possibly have fried something?

Cheers

According to post number 1 it's a Jabsco quiet flush.
