I would be very interested to hear from anybody, with any information regarding :-
22ft plywood Hornblower yachts, designed in the 1960s by a gentleman called P.W.Blandford.
Any details or memoirs about building, sailing or seeing these yachts would be much appreciated, any photos would be terrific.
I put a post on previously and would like to thank those people who replied, for their interesting comments.

Don't know the yacht, but PW sold plans for a million (well, lots) of wooden framed, canvas covered canoes - I have two in the garage! Practically every scout troop in the country built to his plans. I will have a look thro some of my older books for info.

I see you have made a similar posting on the Classic boat forum and almost everything I was going to post here has already been said on there.

I remember the Hornblower being featured on of the magazines around in the early 1970s. PBO or Small Boat, later taken over by PBO. As my sister and her husband had just built a Lysander at that time.

I think I have only ever seen one Hornblower and IMHO it is not as attractive looking as the Lysander. It has a very slab sided appearance by comparison. I very much doubt if as many as 800 were built. I am sure if there were many about they would have been incorporated into the Lysander Owners association

Thanks, for your input and information on this topic.
Plans for HORNBLOWER were still available about ten year ago, (I bought a set myself), not particularly with regard to building one, more just to enhance fond childhood memories.
I did some pricing up using the very detailed component dimension and quantities literature that came with the plans, and at that time the obvious costings were about £7000, not to mention the overlooked and non apparent costings.
Thanks again.

Best Wishes
Andy G
