Horison 500 Windlass

I have one of the above fitted to my Rinker Fiesta Vee 265 which is not working.

Can anyone provide me with any advice on how to test if any electrical power is reaching its motor using a multi meter please.

Need to go through a simple check sequence.
Is the winch switch and/or overload cut out in the live position. ????.

ie. Has the winch power been disabled or tripped by previous owner ?


!/ Are the heavy duty cables from battery or master switch connected properly on relays and all with clean non corroded contacts.
Are thinner wires from winch switch on dashboard clean and non corroded.
When activating anchor switch can you hear the relays clicking.
If relay is clicking but no movement from winch motor you need to check if any power is coming out of relay to winch, no power means relay problem,
Might be able to clean but most are sealed units.
If power is coming out of relay then winch motor is going to need attention, you might get away with clean and new brushes.
Lack of use and water ingress is the main reason for failures.
