Title should read SeaKing!

Got back to RHYC after lovely Sãil yesterday to be greeted with an RAF SeaKing above head lowering crew onto the old fuel barge walkway some 45 metres away.
Emergency crew on shore and Lifeboat in attendance, in fact they buzzed us twice.
After some 45 mins stretcher airlift and off they went.
Really hope casualty is ok.

I have just found the Ipswich Star has a piece on it. Injured sailor on visiting yacht.
All very impressive especially the SAR Sea King hovering above the yachts and other hazards.
The smell of aviation fuel took me back to being on the Mountain Rescue teams in Snowdonia -occasional pick up and or drop down in a SeaKing was always a bonus.

It makes you realise doesn't it what a blessing it is living in a first world country, someone falls over on their yacht badly injuring their leg and a couple of lifeboats, an ambulance and a rescue helicopter are there in minutes. Genuinely makes you appreciate the society we live in.

Yes, we were at the Rocks on Virgin Gouda, BVI in 2010 when a tourist from USVI was found unconscious in the sea. It took nearly an hour for the Lifeboat to arrive-no access by road. A couple of people worked selflessly at CPR, but to no effect. It made me think how lucky we are in England. Unfortunately it can take a similar time for an ambulance to arrive in North Wales.
