Yes Forty Featherweight with Wipac magneto and brass tank so probably pre 1977. With Villiers carb can be made to run on 25:1 with correct needle. Looks superb!

With the Wipac Mag post 1967 ??

Pity the original plug cap is missing.

As you say can be modified to run on 25:1 Mine does. so does my 40+ ...both with bronze flywheels and Wipac mags

Pre '67 had silver Villiers flywheels . Generally not advised to run pre 67 ones on 25:1

Yes - thinking about it probably pre 1976 when the Bing carb came in, and the nasty steel tanks - but could perversely be later as I recall making some "classic" models with all the old bits to use up stock in around 1979/80 when the "blue" engines were coming on line. Prompted partly by finding several thousand sets of brass tank bits buried in the back of the stores and a huge stock of 3.5:1 gear sets as used in the Century and 40Plus. sold 2000 Centuries to the Dept of Fisheries in Malaysia in 1979 - good price as the order used up loads of otherwise obsolete stock. Happy Days!

Hopeful vendor

Is this person in marketing but hoping for a career in politics? Why is it that when advertising the vendor usually says “very good condition as seen in the photos” I always believe that seeing the item in the flesh will make your mind up as to its condition? Photos just give you a taster. Which would be the prefered buy, very very clean but doesn’t run or runs perfectly but has a few scuff marks?

Is this classed as new?
