Just in case anyone's interested in the mechanism.
I got mine stuck on a rather large mooring ring last year and the balls jumped a couple of notches. Fiddly to get apart but simple enough to reassemble and it seems to be OK, I'll know for sure after I use it again.
There are 72 x 9mm diameter plastic balls. The other half of the moulding completes the ball race.
