Spurred on by a visit to the excellent Scottish Islands class blog mentioned on the form a few days ago I have been encouraged to promote my own web site about the Honey Bee class, a 28ft. sloop built in the 1960's in Scotland and elsewhere and and a blog about the joys and sorrows of wooden boat ownership.
See it at www.crunluath.org

Yet another excellent website, certainly interesting to those of us on the Clyde and west coast, but also of interest to those further afield.

Bookmarked.

Re your blog

The original stern gear would be Stuart turner most likely
It is not considered good practise to have all three elements is gland / coupling / mounts flexible as there is then nothing to stop the engine bouncing all over the place although the R&D coupling is usually stiff enough to be used

Stern gear

I'll tell you next season if the vibro massage is working! The flexi stuffing box is on order!
The stern tube is Stuart-Turner, as is the fuel tank, the last remains of the original engine setup.
Thank you for your comments.

It's nice to see that Rose of Mearns is alive and well - I spent what seems like a significant proportion of my childhood in a dinghy, dodging her on her mooring at Port Bannatyne.
