I have put some pics on the last Kipor thread below to help those who may be thinking of buying one. I did this as I had never seen the two together in a picture and was a bit surprised when the Kipor arrived, but remember they are different sizes e.g. 1kw v 3kw

or click Here and then scroll down to the pictures at the bottom /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Quite a difference, Pete. Interesting to them side by side. But then Kipor is over double the output so expect it to be bigger. Doesn't seem too bad for 3 kva output.

Hi Geoff, yes a little difficult when you see them in different pics apart, that's why I wanted to help others. It is more for storage really so people can understand the size. The Honda is a beauty, well made quiet and compact, there is no way I would have changed if I didn't need the extra power.

I feel I should have looked more closely at the Honda EU20i, but then it may have been struggling with the 7000btu of the aircon. The Kipor manual actually shows that aircon as being suitable for the 3kw one I bought, shame I couldn't get any more sense from Honda or find the info as to whether the EU20i would cope.

Never mind, but I would still out of interest like to see a pic of the Kipor and Honda Eu20i side by side, as you know storage space is everything on my little 25ft er. I would also like to have heard the sound of both Kipor and Eu20i, as the Kipor is a lot louder than the EU10i which just purrs along, whereas when you plug a kettle into the Kipor it goes mental and you may as well be at a fairground, mind you some days in the Solent are like that so no problems I guess /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hope my pic's help someone.

Pete,
Am intrigued by this noise issue you mention so looked on Kipor site and Honda site.

Both report at 7mts, on Honda EU2.0i level 59dba, on Kippor 3.0i livel 54 - 59dba so is there a difference or are you comparing apples and pairs, mind you EU1.0i was something like 49 dba.

Or is it that yours is noisy, as I say I think ours is very good on noise levels, don't know that I'd use it much in a marina but certainly be ok for bursts at anchor.

Surely one would expect a genny capable of 2kw more to be bigger and noisier??

Hi Planty, I think I have been somewhat spoiled with the Eu10i, it is a fantastic machine. I did however make it clear in one of my previous posts that I was comparing the Kipor with the Eu10i I have and to bear that in mind /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I must say the racket from the Kipor was when I had it almost on full load which is how it will be running and the reason I bought i.e. for the reverse cycle aircon, when on tick over it's fine and only a bit loader than the Eu10i.

I also mentioned the quality of the casing e.t.c. it is typical chinese quality as you would expect from a chinese tool to a branded quality one but I knew that and accept it, as it is also a lot cheaper. Honda do not do an equivelant at a reasonable price and size over the Eu20i which is not quite big enough, had the Eu20i done th ejob I would have snapped it up.

I did post on here asking what power was needed for the aircon, I will be pretty pissed off if it turns out the Eu20i would have done the job, but I have the names of the forum members who advised me stored /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can always get rid of it to the circus next time they come to town /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

My toast mate the Honda Eu10i is going to a very nice home by the sea, I will miss it terribly /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Kieran sells 60 Kipor's a day so I guess people must like them, you can get him on 01277 627107 or 07779 784516, he is based in Billericay, Essex.

I have no connection whatsoever with him or the company apart from buying one last week /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think there may be some issues over the sizing of the Kipor generators. The 3000 model is assumed by many to be able to provide 3kW. Kipor's figures state that it provides a continuous power of 2.3kVA and peak of 2.6kVA.

Now I am not totally up on this, so stand to be corrected, but using a power ratio of 0.85 which I beleive is standard for converting kVA to kW, it would seem that the 3000 provides a continuous output of 1.955kW and peak of 2.21kW.

The Honda EU20 provides continuous 1.6kW and peak 2.0kW.

It would be easy to assume there is a 1kW difference between the Kipor 3000 and Honda EU20, but in reality it may only be 0.355kW.

I think this explains why there are many comments from Kipor users that their genny trips when they try to run it on full load. They may well be overloading it.

You are right, with the Kipor I am right on the limit for running the a/c so much so that even if I went for the Red 'non invertor' 3kw one, It would not run it, don't ask why but there are debates on it on RV forums. I would have liked to have seen the Eu20i and Kipor 3000 together side by side.
