I have a Honda BF2.3 outboard.
For some reason Honda insist on making some exposed parts out of normal steel where only stainless will do.
When you raise the outboard a little lever springs down onto the mounting bracket and the engine stays up.
This spring and it's pin is fully exposed to the elements and rusts. Bad show on Honda for not making this out of stainless.
However, I came across a decent web site for Honda spares with exploded diagrams and have posted it here for those interested.

There may be other similar sites. I have no connection to this one other than ordering replacement springs.
