Hi everyone,
Been looking at new outboards to replace my old Mariner 20 2-stroke.I see Honda do a "NEW" BF20 model 4-stroke (no-one else seems to make a 20FS) which at 49kgs is the same weight as my old stroker! Most 4's (25hp) are much heavier which apparently could be a problem on a small (14ft) boat.Still a bit pricey though at around £2k.Has anyone had any experience with this engine?I've had a few Honda bikes in the past and their reliability and build quality was faultless. Are their out boards as good?
Any advice most welcome.

Thanks
Phil

Yep, Honda's outboards are as good as their bike engines. They cost a lot because they are good. They are reliable, cheap to run and in your case (not so with the bigger ones) they weigh in OK.

I would go for it.

No experience of Handa outboards but as Dave says reliability cant be faulted, had Honda Motorbikes for years never let me down yet.

Got a honda 30 on a 4.5 ton displacement boat. In 6 or is 7 years have used it for over 800 hours with no major problems. Most use though is at 3 to 4000 rpm so not highly stressed even by boat engines.
Main problem with honda though, is or was lack of props when compared with yamaha.
