Hi. I am hoping that someon has experience of pulling the prop shaft of a Honda outboard. When my boat came ashore last week I drained the lower unit oil but was greeted by two small ballbearings stuck to the magnetic drain plug. I have pulled the end gear casing and bevel gear with no problem. Everything looks good and the gear/clutch selector moves back and forth when the gears are selected. However I see from the expanded parts view that there are 4 small ballbearings on the shaft which apear to be under the clutch selector. Whilst I wavered about shoving it all back together, I guess I need to press on and investigate. The question I have is has anyone ever taken out the pinion gear? I am worried that if I managed to get the pinion gear nut out, would I be able to get it back in tight enough? It needs to go in at 95nm of torque, and I have my doubts that it can be acheived by turning the drive shaft with a mole grip, which is about the limit of my "workshop"
Hopefully someone can advise me
Thanks, Chris
