Yes another BF2.3 question I'm afraid.
It won't start and makes a squeaky noise when the starting cord is pulled see https://youtu.be/MppyIzHc9Fo

Was running smoothly at the start of the season.
Plenty of oil present.
Spark seems to be OK.
No compression when the starter is pulled.
I have put a little WD40 and oil in the spark plug hole and left for a while (a tip from a previous thread I think).
Fuel may be a little old, but that shouldn't affect the compression. Carburettor is not clogged as far as I can tell.
Engineer says its wasn't worth spending more than 30 minutes trying to find the fault. He couldn't. I'm £36 down (not too painful).
But I don't want to buy another one before trying a few quick fixes myself.
Any ideas?
Or should I sell for parts and start again?
Many thanks.

I think I would have tried a little engine the cylinder rather than WD40 It would make abetter seal.
It may well be a stuck valve but worth checking the valve clearances.

You do not say what the "engineer" looked at though

Thanks.
I don’t think the engineer did much other than top up the oil and changes the fuel, check the plug.
I’ll have a tinker tomorrow although I’m no mechanic.
You never know.
