Hi All,

I have a Honda 15HP 4 Stroke, electric start engine (year - im unsure - sorry).

Does anyone know whether I can hook up a Tachometer to this engine?

Attached is an image of the engine to show the approximate style/age.

I have spent a few hours of Googling and not come to a decision as of yet

Any help would be much appreciated...

Cheers, Sam

Ehr.. Any that handles your number of cylinders and pick up signal from ignition should do, provided you have some sort of power to run it (engine battery?)

To cope with environment a marine, bike or otherwise suitable instrument should be used.

Its that simple? :)

Yeah I have two batteries onboard, one to power the starter motor and one to power the electrics on board. These are charged from the engine itself when running.

Thanks for your help @Spi D :)

Do a little homework to know if you have one ignition coil pr. cyl or one common as the supplier may need to know.

If the motor has an alternator some tachos read these pulses instead. More commom than ign.-sensing as they can be used on diesels as well.

Principle (from car):
