Honda B75 Issues

Hi all,

I am having a problem putting the lower leg onto my Honda 7.5 outboard. The leg will slide on until about the last half inch (see photos). Does anyone know why this might happen, or can point out anything that I am missing?

Maybe the spline is not quite engaging as you put the leg up into the engine half. Perhaps a little wiggling of the prop to get the splines engaged as you push up?

I have tried this, didn't seem to help It definitely seems to be a metal on metal sound though so it must be something getting stuck somewhere.

Well, there must be a locating peg somewhere.
I had a Volvo Penta MBA2 which was basically BF75 engine, I never had much issue wiggling the leg back on.

Gear linkage not engaging?

I would guess it's the cooling pipe not engaging at the top. It would be far easier to pull it out of the pump, align it in the power head, then when you are aligning the drive shaft you can see the cooling pipe and pump top and push them together.
