Good Morning!
I've needed an outboard for my tender for a while and yesterday picked up (what I think was) a bargain on eBay. Possibly because the guy refused to post it and it was in Penzance!
It's a 2006 Honda, 2HP, 4 stroke with about 7 hours run time (so he says anyway). It cost me £260. Do you think I got a good deal here?
However there was a bit of a problem and being a bit of a newbie to outboards, hoped you might be able to help. When I got down there the seller had filled it right to the tope with fuel (and I mean right to the top).
I stuck it on my tender to give it a bit of a test run and it went fine, running and ticking over fine and started first time despite not being used for 4 weeks. However there was a little bit of fuel dripping out of the engine, particularly when left to idle. This seemed to get gradually better though was still dripping a bit half an hour later. It looked like the fuel was coming from a transparent plastic hose (looks like a run-off hose) attached to the carb.
What do you think may have been the cause of this? Was it simply over filled or was it flooded? Since it was idling fine, I am assuming that the engine is set up correctly.
The chap who sold it to me has given me until 8 pm this evening to get a full refund but I would like to avoid this as I think it was a good deal.
Thanks - Alex
