honda 2.3 O/B - prop not turning

On the top of the shaft thre is a bearing which was seized solid two days with wd40 and eventually I got it moving.

Would you happen to have a photo to show the whereabouts of said bearing?
Any problems in getting to it that one should know about before dismantling the stuff?
Thanks for advice!

I did not have a manual, start by getting rid of all the plastic, remove the carb, fuel tank etc. it really is self explanatory. I needed no special tools.

I did not take photos perhaps I should have. You will end up separating the engine from the drive transmission IIRC this is done at the centrifugal clutch, this is a good time to clean the drum face up.

It's a shame they did not use a decent seal on this bearing and I also turn off the fuel now and run it out if I am leaving the boat for any length of time. I also run the engine every time I Amon the boat , I just start it in situ it won't damage it if run for about 30 seconds

Good luck with it

I would suggest you may not be out of the woods yet.
If corrosion caused that lock-up then it won't have been cured by getting it to turn. There is still something in there which has corrosion.
I'd certainly strip out the gearbox for a look.

Bug ger - it seems you are right. After a successful run in the barrell last eve off to the boat today. Clutch seemed to be acting up and engine conking repeatedly when I tried to rev slowly. After several stop start sessions, starting cord came away in my hand - glad I had the paddles in the dinghy. Had a good spell on board and that first sail of the season is now within reach.
