Hello I have read loadsabout portable generators on my 12 v /240 U.K. boat. I am totally lost. I am cruising the Caribbean. I bought this gen. I have had an adapter made to dimly plug into the shore power socket. Without the science please…..
1. Can I do it?
2. if not can you buy a step up inverter to 240 v?
Please please - simple!
happy to help anyone crossing Atlantic. [Unwelcome content removed]

If you're asking if you can charge a "220v boat" with a 110v generator then I wouldn't try it without a lot more information.

I have the impression that most battery chargers are either 110v or 220v and not dual voltage - probably your 220v charger won't put out the right voltage to charge the batteries if you try and charge it with a 110v genny.

The quickest and dirtiest solution I can think of is to buy a cheap smart / 3-stage battery charger locally - one which will run of 110v.
