Thanks, but so far I havent found a source of carbon tubes that are long enough - needs to be something like 4m

Wind surfer mast? = as above. I collect them when people throw them out for council collection.

weight. I already have a spinny pole which is ally and too heavy. A whisker pole might be a lighter section but it has to be longer so in ally it will not be a lot lighter. Anyway a carbon pole has sailing cred! ?

I have a whisker pole made from aluminium alloy that is significantly lighter than the spinnaker pole. I can handle the whisker pole easily and carry it tucked under my arm. There's a noticeable wall thickness difference between both. By the time you dick about with carbon fibre and alloy pole could be bought and pop riveted with end sections, probably.
