I`m going to Amsterdam 2/9/03 for the boat show and to scour the area for a =/- 40` steel cruiser. Having been before the prices are much much cheaper than the UK. If I am successful anyone know how I can raise a crew ( or at least an experienced captain) to help me bring her back to mid thames? It seems a bit of a fraud to have her on a low loader, and there are not many cranes that can tale the weight to relaunch her apparently.

If you spend a bit of time round here. You will gain lots of friends and your only worry will be who, or how many to ask.

I bought my boat in Holland last year!

Brought her back in three legs. It was the best trip ever!

I started in loosdrecht which is about 20 miles south off Amsterdam, took three days to get to Flushing, which from there on a good day you can come across depending on your speed!

I left the boat in Middleburg for two weeks! End of leg one.

Next leg on a weekend flew to Amsterdam (69 Pounds) and 15 Euro for train journey (2 hours) left middleburg Saturday morning and got to OOstende !

Ferry back on Sunday morning! Last one at 3pm do not miss!

Third leg Ferry from Dover to Oostende on Friday after noon, good dinner and a few drinks in Oostende, Saturday morning out and (7am) safe at home by 5pm (Faversham)

My boat cruises at 8-109 Knots

Ask anything else if I missed anything out.

And as for crew I am your first volunteer!

Do not even think of putting her on a truck this is the nicest place to use your boat,

By the way I have all the charts.

Tom

Sounds good - my flight to Amsterdam cost £5 out & £7 home (Easyjet) I think I`ll post some help signs a bit closer to departure time - you`re first in line !

Your boat`s a bit quick - 109 knots!

All markets are constantly in flux, but I venture to suggest this is not such a good time. The fall in sterling value from E1.60 to E1.39 in the last three months is pretty dramatic. It's the cause of a big hike in my turnover and would make me think twice about a foreign property of boat purchase right now, (or even a holiday come to that).
