has anyone bothered ? or have you just bought 'pro built'
can anyone offer any advice/ pointers. I'm trying to knock one up as sensible as poss. for as little as poss.
thoughts ranging from scavenged caravan axles to heavy duty industrial castors on box sections.
Jimi wasp - you have an engineering background - any suggetsions?
ta in advance.

I would say that it is an idea that can easily be carried out by any moderately capable person. I built a 3 tonne trailer that I kept my 29footer on for years, so a dolly for yard work should be pretty straight forward.

I sourced the box section from a steel stock holder, who I got to cut all the lengths to exact measurements. The 4 hub assemblies were Morris 1800 ( remember them?) as these were the recommended ones to fit the 4x Indespension units I was using.

For a dolly I guess I might try to get hold of some 'acro jacks' if the boat is a fin/single keeler.

I tagged all the chassis together with my little home welder, and got a guy in to finaly weld it all up. Nice little project if you have some space to do it. I think if I was building a yard dolly I might make it 'dismountable' for storeage.
